چکیده
This study discusses the properties and decompositions of traveltime sensitivity kernels in elastic isotopic transversely isotropic media. Analytical solutions homogeneous media are derived help better understand their properties. One key component is kernel phase function which determines frequency components kernels, geometrical setting Fresnel zones, resolving ability for velocity inversion. For purpose exploration seismology, finite-frequency inversion expressed terms Thomsen’s anisotropic parameters. The can be decomposed into summation constructed by symmetry direction correction due to presence anisotropy. Sensitivity computed from different types acquisitions contain information We compare using finite-difference with those dynamic ray tracing. conclude that full wave numerical method able provide high-resolution form basis 3D

Dynamic and Static Green's Functions in Transversely Isotropic Elastic Media
Concise and numerically feasible dynamic and static Green's functions are obtained in dyadic form by solving the wave equation and the equilibrium equation with general source distribution in transversely isotropic (TI) media. The wave and equilibrium equations are solved by using an extended version of the Kupradze method originally developed for isotropic media. The dynamic Green's function i...
متن کاملViscous propulsion in active transversely isotropic media
Taylor’s swimming sheet is a classical model of microscale propulsion and pumping. Many biological fluids and substances are fibrous, having a preferred direction in their microstructure; for example, cervical mucus is formed of polymer molecules which create an oriented fibrous network. Moreover, suspensions of elongated motile cells produce a form of active oriented matter. To understand how ...
متن کاملAttenuation analysis for heterogeneous transversely isotropic media
Attenuation coefficients obtained from seismic data may provide sensitive attributes for reservoir characterization and increase the robustness of AVO (amplitude variation with offset) analysis. Here, we present an algorithm for ray tracing in attenuative anisotropic media based on the methodology of C̆ervený and Ps̆enc̆ik. Both kinematic and dynamic ray tracing are carried out in an elastic refer...
متن کاملEstimating the Elastic Moduli of Transversely Isotropic Formations
Using acoustic logging data, we develop a method of estimating the horizontal shear modulus C66) of a transversely isotropic formation with its axis of symmetry parallel to that of the borehole. The data for the inversion are the wavenumbers, at every frequency, of the guided waves. The inversion minimizes the difference between these observed wavenumbers and those calculated by a forward model...
متن کاملComputing traveltime and amplitude sensitivity kernels in finite-frequency tomography
The efficient computation of finite-frequency traveltime and amplitude sensitivity kernels for velocity and attenuation perturbations in global seismic tomography poses problems both of numerical precision and of validity of the paraxial approximation used. We investigate these aspects, using a local model parameterization in the form of a tetrahedral grid with linear interpolation in between g...
